“This project combines two things that are important to us. We are significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the building and at the same time moving forward in terms of both technology and heating in an economically sound way.”

LeaseGreen designed and implemented an extensive energy renovation of the Majvik conference and congress hotel, owned by the Trade Union Pro, which involved renewing the heating system of the property: district heating was replaced by geothermal heating. In addition, the ventilation, lighting and building automation were modernised.
Nearly 30 energy wells were drilled in Majvik’s yard, collecting thermal energy from a depth of around 300-350 metres. In addition to geothermal heat, the energy wells provide geothermal cooling during the summer to cool the common areas of Majvik’s main building.
The other buildings in Majvik had already switched to geothermal heating earlier, but the technology in the main building was original, some 30 years old. The main building has 85 rooms, several meeting rooms, three restaurants and swimming pool facilities. For a building of this size, district heating costs were high.
The renovation cut out half of the carbon footprint of Majvik’s main building. The financial impact was also significant, with life-cycle savings of €1.5 million.
