LeaseGreen carried out an extensive energy renovation of an eQ Real Estate Funds property in Kuopio. The aim of the investments was to contain the maintenance costs of the properties and reduce the carbon footprint and repair debt.
The renovation involved replacing the ventilation, cooling and lighting in a commercial and office building at Asemakatu 22-24 in Kuopio. Solar panels were installed on the building’s roof, and the data generated by the building automation system has been harnessed to control LeaseGreen’s intelligent cloud service.
At the same time, a similar energy renovation was carried out at Keskustori 5 in Tampere. LeaseGreen and eQ Real Estate Funds are also jointly exploring the potential for modernising other eQ properties.
“We have set strict targets for both energy efficiency andCO2 emissions. Improving and managing the environment is also important when modernising the technology of the properties,” says Kimmo Alaharju, Real Estate Director of eQ Real Estate Funds.
eQ Real Estate Funds owns a total of 220 properties, divided into two funds, eQ Commercial and eQ Residential. The latter fund also owns school properties in several locations.
Kojamo and LeaseGreen will carry out energy renovations in two Lumo buildings. The first geothermal project in Helsinki is underway and will be completed by the end of September 2025. The second project will start in spring 2026. Switching to geothermal heating will reduce the running costs of buildings and promote environmentally friendly urban living.
