“The most important work starts when the geothermal and photovoltaic systems are installed. They are just the tools to help reduce the energy consumption of the housing company.”

In the energy renovation with LeaseGreen, the company received not only geothermal heating, but also solar electricity and electric car charging points. A previously installed exhaust air recovery system was integrated into the overall system.
As Oy Syväkallio is a housing company consisting of four buildings located in Uittamo, Turku. Built in 1968, it has 156 apartments and about 250 residents. An extensive energy renovation was completed in autumn 2021.
The energy renovation was preceded by the installation of an exhaust air heat recovery system (PILP), which was previously installed in connection with the pipe renovation.
“It halved our heating consumption,” says Juha Jäppinen, chairman of the board of the housing company.
After the renovation, the housing company was connected to LeaseGreen’s remote optimisation service, which ensures that the new technology works as intended and the promised savings are realised. A single heating season is not enough: optimisation is carried out over several years. This ensures that the technology works at its best.
The energy renovation will cut Syväkallio’s energy bill by another 50%. In euro terms, the savings are around €50 000 every year. An even bigger cut will be made to the carbon footprint of the housing company – a reduction of 85%, or 150 tonnes (CO2e) per year. This is equivalent to the annual emissions of 36 medium-sized detached houses.
