LeaseGreen is focusing its resources on a wider range of energy efficiency projects and property-specific energy production projects. As a result of the redundancy negotiations, 25 employees will be made redundant.
“We are having to make redundancies of highly motivated professionals and important colleagues,” says Thomas Luther, CEO of LeaseGreen. “I thank them for their truly important work for our customers and our company. I regret that we will no longer be able to offer them work, although we managed to reduce the need for redundancies slightly during the redundancy negotiations. The coronavirus has reduced the predictability of the business and we cannot yet know when the market situation will change. However, the coronavirus is only one reason. We built the organisation for a period of rapid growth, but we missed our targets even before the interest rate crisis.”
According to Luther, LeaseGreen is now focusing on scaling and flexibility in project operations and service business:
“We are strongly developing our service business alongside our project business. The new alignment will secure and strengthen the hard core of LeaseGreen. The company’s financial position is strong and customer projects are progressing well.”
As part of the changes, co-founder Tomi Mäkipelto will move from operational work to the company’s Board of Directors.
In recent years, LeaseGreen has been particularly successful in energy renovation of commercial and residential buildings and energy efficiency projects in industry. In 2019, LeaseGreen had a turnover of EUR 22.9 million.
“We are now fully focused on serving our customers and building a sustainable foundation for long-term growth,” says Thomas Luther. “We are enjoying work that delivers exceptional benefits to customers and society. We will ensure that energy renovations are carried out efficiently and safely in all circumstances.”
