On Wednesday, the International Health Organisation ( WHO) classified the coronavirus as a pandemic. The number of infections is also growing rapidly in Finland. LeaseGreen is responding to the situation by switching to teleworking from Monday 16 March and avoiding unnecessary movement around its customers’ premises.
“We have been preparing for the spread of the coronavirus for several weeks,” says Thomas Luther, CEO. “The health and safety of our staff and customers is our top priority now that the epidemic appears to be spreading. Beyond that, we are doing everything we can to ensure that the planning and execution of our clients’ projects proceed as smoothly as possible, even as conditions become more difficult.”
According to Thomas Luther, LeaseGreen’s processes and modern communication solutions enable a large part of the work to be carried out remotely. Physical meetings with clients are avoided and, where possible, negotiations are conducted via video calls. Staff are instructed not to enter clients’ premises even if they have minor flu symptoms.
“On construction sites, we avoid physical contact and staying in areas where there are a lot of people. Most of the work related to surveying, design and installation takes place in the technical areas of the buildings, which are not accessible to the users of the buildings.”
LeaseGreen is closely monitoring the situation and the authorities’ instructions. Thomas Luther says that LeaseGreen is also preparing for the closure of its premises and those of its customers in the coming weeks.
“There is no reason to panic, but in a pandemic we must take care of our fellow human beings who are more vulnerable than others. In addition to this, we also have a responsibility for the promises we make to our customers and the livelihoods of our staff.”
