The Laajavuori hotel property owned by CapMan will switch to a modern and energy-efficient heating solution. LeaseGreen is implementing the geothermal project with a life cycle model, with Heatly as a partner. The cooperation will bring significant savings and environmental benefits without an initial investment.

With the geothermal project, the property will move away from district heating, which will bring savings on heating costs, reduce the hotel’s emissions and significantly improve its energy class. At the same time, a cooling solution will be implemented in the property, which will increase the comfort of the building.

The project will be implemented on a turnkey basis, with LeaseGreen responsible for the design and implementation of the entire geothermal system. The property will repay the investment in monthly instalments over an agreed period. The equipment will then be transferred to the property. This model allows energy efficiency improvements to be made without an initial investment in the property

“It is important for us to implement our sustainability strategy through concrete actions. Working with LeaseGreen and Heatly has been straightforward and this project is an excellent example of how we can improve our properties and reduce their environmental footprint. After the renovation, the property’s heating energy consumption will decrease by 1,500 MWh, and the remaining heating energy will be produced by geothermal energy”, says Elias Salla, CapMan’s Asset Manager.

Green energy and economic sense

The Laajavuori geothermal project is a major step forward, both economically and environmentally. An extensive renovation project is underway throughout the property, and the geothermal project is part of it. The design and implementation of the geothermal project will be coordinated with other technical building renovations. This will ensure a tight schedule and the opening of the hotel to guests as quickly as possible.

“It’s great to be able to support CapMan in promoting their sustainability measures and to work together on concrete energy actions. This is just the beginning – we will continue to work together to find new ways to improve the energy efficiency and increase the value of hotel properties,” says Anton Närekorpi, Account Director at LeaseGreen.

As part of a wider property development project, geothermal brings modern energy efficiency, significant cost savings and a tangible impact on the carbon footprint of the property. At the same time, the hotel will ensure its competitiveness and comfort of use well into the future.

The geothermal project is progressing according to plan, with drilling of more than 60 energy wells already well underway. The geothermal system will be fully operational for the 2025-2026 heating season.

A strategic partnership that will change the energy future of Laajavuori

Laajavuori is the first joint project between LeaseGreen and Heatly and is being implemented in cooperation with CapMan.

“Our cooperation with LeaseGreen has got off to an excellent start and their turnkey model enables efficient project implementation. With this successful project, our goal is to find more similar projects together,” says Harri Kemppi of Heatlyn.
