LeaseGreen develops eQ Real Estate Funds’ properties in Tampere and Kuopio

“Taming energy waste is a great idea, especially when cold winds blow through the household.”

LeaseGreen carries out extensive energy renovations to eQ Real Estate Funds’ properties in Tampere and Kuopio. The aim of the investments is to contain the maintenance costs of the buildings and reduce the carbon footprint and repair debt.

“We are determined to improve the energy efficiency of the properties we own and the sustainability of our operations,” says Kimmo Alaharju, Real Estate Director of eQ Real Estate Funds.

“We are now setting stringent targets for both energy efficiency andCO2 emissions. Improving and managing conditions is also an important issue when modernising building technologies.”

LeaseGreen will renew the ventilation, cooling and lighting of a commercial and office building at Asemakatu 22-24 in Kuopio for eQ. Solar panels will be installed on the roof of the building, and the data generated by the building automation will be harnessed to control LeaseGreen’s intelligent cloud service. In Tampere, a similar energy renovation will be carried out in the property at Keskustori 5. LeaseGreen and eQ Real Estate Funds are also jointly exploring the potential for modernising other eQ properties.

“LeaseGreen has a clear and well-structured process,” says Alaharju. “The quality of the plans also inspires confidence. That’s why we have high expectations also for the implementation of energy renovations.”

eQ Real Estate Funds owns a total of 220 properties, divided into two funds, eQ Commercial and eQ Residential. The latter fund also owns school properties in several locations.

“We are very pleased with the confidence shown by eQ,” says Thomas Luther, CEO of LeaseGreen. “The coronavirus is a challenge for all players in the real estate sector, but we can certainly do well together if we focus on our activities. Investments that reduce energy bills in buildings will reduce costs for property owners substantially and immediately. Taming energy waste is a great idea, especially when cold winds blow through the household.”
