Kojamo and LeaseGreen improve energy efficiency of Lumo houses with geothermal heating

Kojamo and LeaseGreen will carry out energy renovations in two Lumo buildings. The first geothermal project in Helsinki is underway and will be completed by the end of September 2025. The second project will start in spring 2026. Switching to geothermal heating will reduce the running costs of buildings and promote environmentally friendly urban living.

Energy renovations improve efficiency and save costs

The projects will install a geothermal heating system and a heat recovery system that captures waste energy from the exhaust air. The combination of heat recovery and geothermal systems improves the energy efficiency of a property and reduces heating costs. The efficiency of the system is 3.2, which means that for every one electrical unit, 3.2 units of thermal energy are available for use in the building.

The first project at Viljatie 7 is progressing rapidly and will be completed by the end of September 2025. The equipment has already been installed and the construction work has been completed, leaving only the electrical work and automation to be finalised before commissioning.

Smooth cooperation

The cooperation between LeaseGreen and Kojamo has got off to a smooth start. The cooperation is a natural choice, as Kojamo’s mission is to create better urban housing and LeaseGreen brings its expertise in promoting energy efficiency and environmentally friendly solutions for real estate.

“The cooperation has been really good and straightforward. It’s great to see that Kojamo trusts our expertise. The ongoing project is progressing efficiently and on schedule,” says Johannes Kilpeläinen, Procurement Manager at LeaseGreen.

“We have been working with LeaseGreen on energy efficiency improvement projects for several years now and it is great that we have finally been able to work together. The Viljatie project has gone smoothly from the start and will be completed in time for the start of the heating season,” says Pasi Kujansuu, Director of Kojamo’s Real Estate Services unit.

Sustainable energy efficiency and reliability

The service package includes continuous monitoring and maintenance of the buildings under the CIP contract, which ensures that the systems function properly and maintain energy efficiency in the long term.

LeaseGreen has been improving the energy efficiency of real estate since 2013 and is one of the most experienced players in the field. LeaseGreen has a large number of properties under constant monitoring, which guarantees expertise and valuations based on knowledge, not assumptions. LeaseGreen’s motto “We do what we promise” reflects a commitment to results and to working hard.
